like an eclipse or something, the weekend has been overshadowed by the advent of a new week. Last week was one of the longest weeks ever, despite there being one less day on account of Labor Day. Financial woes combined with loads of things to do for classes coalesced to create lunacy ex nihilo. but it was a good weekend in general, hung out with friends on Friday night and largely floated through the nothingness of the rest of the weekend. Florida and Oregon both won their games this weekend, which was a plus. Checked out some new music I’d been sitting on for awhile, and it was great. (more…)

what a busy couple of weeks this has been. Teaching, studying, writing, pining for money and financial absolution. Music fills my nights and my days, whether on the bus or in my kosmos of a room. It’s been a little over two weeks and my loans haven’t come in yet, which has caused a lot of frustration for both me and Nicole. I hate being at almost absolute zero, or worse, in the negative. Crisis was narrowly averted earlier this week (for rent) and last night by an eleventh-hour action of my family, whom I will certainly pay back when the loans come in sometime late next week. Thus is the life of a grad student, but it oughtn’t be this close to the absolute financial depths so very often. (more…)
