good evening, or good morning rather. I know it’s been awhile since I’ve written, duly noted. it’s been a long week, the first week of my last semester here. I’ve been trying to find books for my thesis like crazy, and even generated a 20-item or so bibliography, and I need a lot more of course. So I emailed a couple of my professors and asked to meet with them today, which they were more than happy to do. In the meantime, I had been finding these books, you know, since the library is closing for three years (rrgh) due to construction, and I want to get them while I can. (more…)

i’m listening to music whilst writing this, which is something I don’t often do, as it breaks my concentration. but i didn’t want the stark silence surrounding me; the music is comforting at the moment. it’s the start of another week. I’ve been in my own little world really, and Nicole and I share this space as we do our flat. the ennui of summer is boiling down to an end soon. I’ve felt for much of it that I was reaching for, desperately trying to grasp an object that seems further and further away. (more…)

a night or two ago, I was thinking of riding on a train northward or southward, the scenery flying by against the backdrop of the starkly black night sky, and thought of all this happily. looking out at the desolation, the dark beauty of these oft-nameless lands flying by outside the window, is strangely calming and peaceful. the twinkling lights of towns streak across the glass, and closed shops leer with their window eyes, and the shadows move in synch. it is the same on the bus, but somehow not as poignant; the scenery is much more mundane on the bus. and I’ve never worried about anyone stabbing me multiple times whilst on a train.
