another year’s gone by since this time last year, obviously, and I’m now 24. well, 24 and almost a day, if you want to be strictly accurate. it doesn’t feel any different, though; I had just gotten used to being 23 by this time, and here they have to change it up on me. life passes by too fast, but it’s trite to say so. I’m glad to be alive, glad for my family and friends and my loved ones in general, especially Nicole. I wouldn’t be here without you all. (more…)

when I got that text out of the blue from Claude, I definitely cracked up, because it was so Karl-esque, so off-the-wall, that I could almost hear Gervais laughing his ass off and yelling “You’re an idiot! so it begins again, I’m on the cusp. it’s been a long weekend of nothingness; I measured time by the slowly ticking hours and mealtimes. It was nice having some solitude, though, although I did get lonely at times. I missed Nicole this weekend, and I know she missed me too although she was busy with her family and such. I was so happy to have her back tonight; she came back around 19.30 or so. (more…)

it’s been a weird day today — I didn’t leave the house, nor did I really get anything done. it’s been nice and relaxing, and I’m looking forward to sleep soon here, but as I look back at the day I sort of regret my inertia. it’s been a breezy sort of week, actually, especially since I didn’t have class Wednesday. I’m still waiting to hear back from some schools as well, which is discouraging in some ways, but oh well, at least the jury’s still out. (more…)

it’s been a rather long week, I must say, and this is the light shining in the darkness, reaching the ocean floor, and all of that. it’s not all that dramatic, really, but it has been a long week. on Tuesday, I ended up staying up all night, stupid as it was, in order to prepare a two-hour presentation for Wednesday’s seminar on Seneca’s Consolatio ad Helviam (“Consolation for Helvia”). It was rather interesting and I liked doing it, but I burned myself out staying up so late, and worked on it up until class time. (more…)

it sounds so much better in Latin. things almost always do, although some would disagree, hehe. on the edge of sleep, my mind is almost blank. well, my mind is never really blank, but it is rather close to it at the moment. low-power mode, hibernation, suspend mode… (which, speaking of that, I truly hope is fixed in 8.04 in a few weeks now, grr!). I’ve not done a whole lot this weekend, and at the same time I should have been doing a whole lot. Nicole (and Krista too) would say that’s due to my nine-ness, and I suppose I could partially exculpate myself with that, but it won’t cut it forever. (more…)
