school is in semi-swing right now. i had a glorious weekend in Oregon with Nicole. we took the Greyhound up, the details of which I can’t discuss right now (no time). the ascent was hellish, but we made it through to the end, we won out, and after a few hours of sleep on Friday morning, we faced the day with open arms and semi-open eyes. saw my parents and sister, my grandparents, and had a great visit with Vanessa on Friday night even! and hell, we saw Superbad on Saturday morning — fucking great movie. go see it now. there’s a reason it’s the “#1 movie.” we had a BBQ at my grandparents’ on Saturday night before we had to go, which was great as well. so, I myself, of the great heart, and my darling dearest, she of the white arms — we are going northward tomorrow afternoon to Oregon. it’ll be a nice, quick little trip. we’ll get there early Friday morning, and leave late Saturday night, so a little bit of time to hang out up there. going to see Vanessa, whom Nicole hasn’t met yet, and hang out with the fam, of course. it’ll be fantastic. I’m very much looking forward to it, and glad it’s happening — this is rather spontaneous, since we previously decided we weren’t going to take this little trip. it was a scheduling conflict, but now it’s on again, so upland we go.
Sleep will take me soon, I’m afraid, because I need to wake up and get to work before I leave. I’m leaving work around 13.00, then hopping on a bus northward at 15.00. we’ll get in about 04.30 on Friday morn. my parents wake up early so they said they’d be happy to pick us up from the bus station.
so yes, I won’t be writing much for the next couple of days. not that I’ve been writing all that much lately; it’s been busy these days. so out of the city I go, soon enough, and may you all have a wonderful rest of the week.

good weekend, certainly so. got a lot done, at least on the practical side. Nicole and I went to Target on Saturday and bought clothes, since our loans came in, and I had just gotten paid a few days earlier. bought some much-needed jeans and such, but otherwise just hung out. we went to Fuddruckers for dinner, which was fucking amazing; the last time I’d been there was when we went to see Hot Fuzz a few months ago with Krista. Nicole had been craving raw meat, so she got a medium-rare 1/2 lb. burger there. I got mine medium well, as is my wont, and got a 2/3 lb. dynamite! otherwise we just chilled out this weekend; she played Harry Potter at my place on Friday night. decided she didn’t like Goblet of Fire game all that well. oh well. maybe she’ll warm up to it later. I listened to my iPod for much of the day today during work. I’ve realised that I’ve severely underappreciated the 28 Days Later soundtrack. I may have mentioned that before, but seriously, it’s an amazing soundtrack, and everyone should listen to it who’s seen the movie (and even if you’ve not). it’s been a long day, albeit a good one. I’m really quite out of it at the moment; it’s approaching midnight all too quickly. just a few moments ago, it seems, it was 18.00 and I’d just gotten home. how time does fly. (more…)

I missed the meteor showers this weekend. Nicole and I were going to head out to the beach on Saturday night to see what we could see, but it looked too overcast to really see anything. by the time it got dark, near 21.00 or 22.00, we just wanted to stay in anyways. maybe I’ll see them when August circles again through the returning year. otherwise, I’ve had a very good weekend, and now it’s a rather uneventful Monday. I’m psyched more than ever to get my paycheck on Wednesday; I’ve never felt like I’ve needed the money more than I do now. only one more shitty day of ramen, then I’m getting myself a juicy burger on Wednesday at the grill on campus. gotta love it. it’s been too short of a night. the time’s passed too fast; just a few minutes ago, it seemed, it was 18.00 and still daylight and I’d just gotten home. now it’s after 22.00 and I feel blindsided. I hate that feeling. ashes of another day, flaring up but slowly dying nonetheless. a shorter life, but brighter, or a longer, not nearly as glowing existence? the dilemma is aeons-old, and the choice is not an easy one. I’ve felt like this summer’s gone on autopilot. I’ve completed barely any of my goals this summer, and that’s no one’s fault but mine. I’ve not really had the motivation, I suppose, and summer is like that. I’ve almost finished the Iliad, but that was only one of the numerous things I’ve wanted to read all summer. I haven’t spent enough time just sitting down and reading; most of my reading is done in transit on the MUNI. (more…)
