the good news is that I’m done with finals. My Latin final was the only one I had to take; the other two classes consisted of rather long papers (yes, that’s an intensifying comparative degree). I was also extremely and thoroughly impressed, moved to yelling and cheering at the screen even, by the fantastic Season 3 finale of LOST last night. that made my entire week, I’d have to say, if not the year. the bad (or slightly bad, however you look at it) news, however, is that I ended up taking “incompletes” in both the Pre-Socratics seminar and the Pompeii seminar. it’s that time of the year when liquid death seeps into one’s veins, the terror and horror at finals (and final papers, don’t forget those either, that terrifying trifecta τρίβουσα’ing me in particular) — the stress and uncertainty are like a shot of liquid death, double- or triple-strength. And that, dear readers, is why I’ve not really been writing all that much these days. Besides the rigors of school in general, things are getting down to the wire, and I feel guilty about the time that I spend not studying. Mind you, this doesn’t happen all the time — ask me at the start of a semester, or even at the middle, or even 3/4 of the way through — but now is when it all counts. Spring semester is always the “big one,” too, since it closes out the year. (more…)
