I should be writing a “response paper” for archaeology right now, but I figured I’d write a little bit beforehand. So I’m 23 now — my birthday was yesterday; thanks to everyone who remembered and called, especially my family, and of course Nicole, with whom I spent a wonderful and restful weekend. Just now I thought of ways to overhaul the site, such as a new banner image, as well as something to replace the “sometimes I feel so sublime” text and the ugly blue WordPress default rectangle image. we’ll see how that goes eventually. I just walked Leora up to her car at the top of my driveway to see her off, and make sure she got down the road safely. it is treacherous at night, and there’s a mercury-vapor light (I think?) serving as a streetlight near our driveway. however, the light seems to have some sort of motion sensor or something of the like, and it ends up winking out when someone or some car approaches. I suppose this is intended to be a feature, but it ends up fucking people over — it’s the only streetlight in the immediate area, really. we tend to call it the “ghost light” because of its ghostly glow while lit, and its nigh-inexplicable sometime extinguishment.
