as the title implies (or explicates, rather), it is that time again: time for a personal κατάβασις. κατάβασις, for those of you who don’t know, means “a going down” (κατα-, “down, downward” prefix + βαίνω, “to go, march, walk”) — generally referring to a trip to the underworld. Every hero generally undergoes their personal κατάβασις, at least in myth, sometimes literal, sometimes figurative. Me, myself, and I — well, I’m going to be holed up in my bedroom for the next three days, trying to type out a brilliant masterwork of a final project — like monkeys pounding out the works of Shakespeare — to deliver on Monday night. this includes putting together a handout for my classmates, which I am thinking I will probably do in Word, since I doubt I’ll have the time (or energy) to copy passages from the numerous books I’m utilizing.
