a gloriously ephemeral week

Ξ Friday, 30 Jun 2006 at 04:03 | → 2 Comments | ∇ Normal |

as I said in the last post, it’s been an awesome fucking week, and I was quite sad to see Nicole go Sunday night. the week we had was fucking amazing, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world; I hope I am able to see her again soon. we shall see how the apartment search goes — the second coming, that is. let us hope it doesn’t end up like the first. in any case, I hope that Μνημοσύνη serves me well in this endeavor, because the week has begun to blur together in my mind, a blur of sex, light, and love. I apologise in advance if it is lacunose, which it probably will be. the explanation I offer is that I ended up waking up rather early much of the week, and thus did not want to stay up late, writing like crazy after long, fun-filled days. I shall start from the beginning, then, and go up to the present, as I am often wont to do, and I hope you all enjoy it. (more…)

excitement ensues

i’m rather tired right now, but I thought I’d give you an update on how things are going atm. Nicole has been here since Tuesday morning, and every bloody second has been amazing with her. I had missed her like crazy, and I am not looking forward to her leaving on Sunday night… but alas, that is how these things go. I will write all about this week once I have some time, and hopefully I can remember all the details. I gotta go, however, since I’m exhausted and we are planning on watching a World Cup game tomorrow — she’s trying to get me into it, and it doesn’t seem all that bad, so yay. time to sleep. i have not disappeared, i promise. goodnight and zZZz.

fires burning underground

Ξ Tuesday, 20 Jun 2006 at 01:56 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Normal |

i rather like the idea of fires burning unchecked underground, the fires of Orc, as some may say. after seeing Silent Hill, I checked a bit on IMDb, and I found that the director and screenwriter of the movie partly based the town of Silent Hill on a place called Centralia, Pennsylvania. Apparently in the early ’60s (1962, according to the article), an out-of-control fire ignited a vein of coal underground, and thus the fires continue burning even to this day after 40 years — and according to the article as well, it has enough fuel to continue burning for the next 250 years. now that’s a very interesting thought — I never knew such things happened. a seething, roiling hell, burning perpetually beneath the streets of the hollowed-out shell of a former town… fascinating. I shall buy the DVD when it comes out, and I am going to look for a copy of the game, although the ones I’ve seen are $40+ used — out of print… bleh. (more…)

hemera patroios

ἡμέρα πατρώιος, that is, Father’s Day. I figured I’d bust out some Greek, since I need to keep up my skills. it was an interesting day today. I’d like to note that this is also my 602nd post — I was going to announce the 600th post when I wrote it, but it completely slipped my mind — so let’s hope I reach 1000 or more, eh? in any case, where should I begin? a lot ends up happening these days, when they should be full of nothingness ideally — well, not complete nothingness, but yeah. I don’t know where I was going with that. anyways, I’ll start by talking about last night a bit, and then we’ll go from there. (more…)

tired homecoming

Ξ Saturday, 17 Jun 2006 at 19:28 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Normal |

note: i wrote most of this on the train last night, and I’m going to fill in the rest from memory and such after the text in the notebook. the train ride was rather long, and I didn’t have the cerebral power to read at night really, so I thought I’d write instead to pass some time, although time still went rather slowly. I had to get thoughts out on paper, and thus here they come to you off of that same paper. (more…)

looking slightly brighter

Ξ Friday, 16 Jun 2006 at 10:40 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Normal |

well, things are looking slightly up. and hey, I always have Plutarch to keep me company on the train while I go home tonight. anyways, it’s been an eventful couple of days here, although only three people responded to my enquiries out of the probably 20+ I responded to on Craigslist. thank God for the ones who responded. I’ll go into that later. it was somewhat of a weird day yesterday, but things were good nonetheless. it’s been a blur of love and sex, but also mingled with a bit of worry as well, since I’ve been somewhat stressing over apartments.         These days my entries have been more fractured and less focused. Such is life. I do what I can to give a glimpse into my life, a snapshot if possible. I hope you enjoy it nonetheless.

talk to me if you'd like to know something about me, or keep reading. I'm still a poor grad student and working on my PhD. I don't really know whether this will become a book anymore, but it's not wholly improbable.
