my eyes are smoldering with sleep as I write this, almost burning with exhaustion, but I am continuing on. sundays are nice and lazy. slept in late until about 01.30 or so. not much got done during the day; I largely wasted away (διέτριψα) the day, not really doing all that much during most of it. I know at one point I talked to Gem (bless that girl, she’s wonderful), which was awesome as usual, but I think either I or her had to go after a bit, sadly — I think she was going to sleep, actually, since she’s +8 or so from me (UTC, and I’m -0800 UTC). for some reason, much of Sunday is escaping my brain. it could be my tiredness, I don’t know. I spent a little while talking to Anna as well as Nicole, solidifying plans for her procurement at the train station by the agency of lovely Nicole, and I was happy with the plans I had set forth. I fucked around on the computer for a long while, chilling and listening to music, checking for new virus definitions (BitDefender is so motherfucking cool! I know that sounds nerdy…), etc. I got a phone call after not too long, though… (more…)

life is pretty bloody great. yet I’m sad that no one guessed what inspired my title last time. it was Aeschylus again, of course… and another couple lines of Apollo’s:
ἡμῖν μὲν ἤδη πᾶν τετόξευται βέλος.
μένω δ’ ἀκοῦσαι πῶς ἀγὼν κριθήσεται.
Now every arrow has been shot by us.
I remain to hear how the contest will be judged.
- Aeschylus, Eumenides 676f.
The thing is, I just looked that up on Perseus right now (in order to copy/paste the Greek), and they attributed it to the Chorus (of the Furies), rather than Apollo; my text, conjectured by some German guy, attributes it to Apollo, and it seems more apt to do so. Who am I to say so, though? *shrugs* oh well. anyways, I really liked those two lines as well (notice they were right after the lines I quoted before), and thus I was inspired by them for my title the last time you heard from me. but I digress. a lot, as usual, has happened since we last crossed paths, and I trust you want to know all about it. maybe? ὦ Μοῦσαι… (more…)

i slept like a baby Tuesday after going to sleep at close to 06.00. many strange dreams… I can’t remember half of them now, but they were fun. light returned as it was almost getting dark, around 15.30, and it felt wonderful. days doing nothing always feel wonderful really. i spent most of the day on the computer, chilling and adding music to my collection, as well as talking to people online. nothing much happened. it was a lazy day, and I didn’t even get dressed; I put on my flannel Fubu shorts and my Los Embajadores shirt and lounged around. I, in formal epic style, battled viruses some of the day, trying to get fucking rid of this pesky one that’s kept popping up, and I now have three anti-virus programs (one spyware too) keeping these little bastards out. let’s hope it’s enough, really… I have rebooted my computer more in the last few days than I think I ever have in my entire life. in any case, on to other things… (more…)

it’s been awhile, I know. apologies. it’s been a rather long week, full of crazy shite going on, and a wonderful weekend as well. I’m feeling almost all better as well, having been blessed by NyQuil and other wonders of modern medicine, as well as the indispensable care and love of my dear Nicole. the latter has helped a lot. plenty of triumphs and tears this week, but more triumphs than tears, for sure. a number of milestones were reached, or at least it feels like that. love is ever-growing with time. death in all its bloody beauty and gory glory is resplendent as well, yet life is pretty motherfucking good. i’ve been holding all of this in my head for awhile, so let us hope that the Muses will act as a goad for my memory, and subsequently guide my mind in this endeavour. would that I am able to write beautifully winged words. my mouth tastes like blood right now. not long after I finished writing last night, I tried to read some Plato, but ended up wanting to sleep. Ryan thought it was somewhat strange, for I had slept on and off for close to 30hrs, that I was tired… but oh well. sickness, νόσος ὀλοή, ruinous sickness, certainly drains one’s body and energy. thus I brushed my teeth and stripped for bed, getting under my blanket, and then Jenn called my cell. i had her call my landline and talk to me there, and talked to her for a few minutes before going to sleep. the alarm was set for 7am. [note]: finally finished. I have been writing this since Saturday 11 March or so, and just finished it, because (as you’ll read below) I’ve been rather fucking sick the last couple of days. so I hope you like it. peace.
I’ve read a number of places that the famous Winchester House, owned by gun heiress Sarah Winchester, contains within its huge confines a number of secret passages as well as doors and stairways leading nowhere. Apparently, according to a book I read awhile ago, since her ancestor had wrought such a genocidal device, she was to atone for his sins (think a curse of the House of Atreus or something of the like). This meant building a house for the shades of the fallen to inhabit, and she was supposedly required to keep building until she, too, passed from the mortal plane. It’s down in San Jose, too, not too far from here, and I actually really want to go there now — I didn’t realise it was so close. we’ll see once I get some $. in any case, I love the idea of there being passages to nowhere, built God knows why; perhaps they were for the shades to pass through in their ethereal travels. I was also inspired to title this entry based upon a small passage in Donna Tartt’s The Secret History, which I believe I’ve mentioned before. so there you have it. i’m still alive and feeling wonderful.
