terse lunatic thoughts

    i am insane.
no, really, I think I am. I’ve just written on my hands with my pen — you know, the kinda shit you do back in middle school and high school? I’m hoping this ink stays, actually, or I’ll rewrite it later, because I wrote some cool shit.
on the left hand, on the top (well, closest the hand) knuckles of my four fingers (i have five, just didn’t write on the thumb of course):
χθών, Greek for “earth, land.” this is where we get the word chthonic, one of my favourite words ever. χθόνιαι θεαί are the “nether goddesses,” as Aeschylus refers to the Furies or Erinyes, the primal goddesses of Earth.
on my right hand, I wrote a few things. On the knuckles, I wrote:
χάος, Greek for “chaos,” of course. a wonderful word, and a friend to Hesiod.
on the top of my right hand, I wrote two things:
θάνατος ἄδικος, “unjust death.” ἄδικος keeps within the spirit of the site here, of course, and θάνατος is one of my favourite words as well. wonder what my friends will think when they see this. do you think they’ll follow suit and I’ll start a trend? only time will tell. for now, however, I’ve got to start on my Aeschylus reading, since I’m on deck today, and I’d better be ready. here’s hoping also that I don’t fail my first Latin quiz, because I’m frightfully behind on the reading and need to spend some quality time with our friend P. Terentius “Terence” Afer. peace.

somniorum fragmenta

that’s right… fragments of dreams. and i’d better set these forth before they disappear like the ethereal wisps they are. highly fragmented though, since a lot of it has disappeared, so I’ll try to provide an epitome. actually, after writing it (yes, I did do most of this intro last), I see that a lot of it has survived in my brain. the transitions between scenes are what have suffered, but if I remember correctly, things ended up shifting quickly anyways, so perhaps it’s accurate. this makes me want to read “The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath” again! hell, just thinking about the underworld and nether earth made me want to read it again too…. I had better have my mum ship that book down when she’s finished with it, heh. anyways, here’s the dreams: (more…)

delusional and insomniac: i’m unwell, but what the fuck is well?

terror indeed. it’s all about the pizza. well, not really, but i’ll pretend it is. pizza is what I got on Monday night, if you really wanted to know. it’s a staple food for our apartment, welcoming old C-135. it sounds more like a robot name than a room number, like C-3P0 or some shit, but it’s home, at least for a few more months — we’ll see what the living situation is like in the fall. otherwise, it was a night just like any other. I watched a fuckload of TV — a lot of Simpsons mostly, and just kicked it. read a lot too, ravenously trying to finish Haunted, the brilliantly, blatantly gory and revolting book that we ought to all love. it’s insanely difficult to put down. the stories all flow together so wonderfully, and every interlude leaves you groping for the next story, even more depraved than the one before it. it’s like watching a plane crash, watching a traffic accident (think Final Destination 2?) — a fucking snowballing train wreck. and you’re in the passenger seat, gorging yourself on popcorn all the while, unable to take your greedy fucking eyes off of it. as limbs get hacked off and the writers cooped up in the old, decrepit theatre waste away to less and less, the excitement grows and grows, and that popcorn is even sweeter. it’s apotheotic, simply apotheotic. cyclical beings are we

Ξ Monday, 06 Feb 2006 at 21:01 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Normal |

just thinking about what I’ve done over the past few days. our daily routines, our daily cycles, eventually grow tiresome and inadequate, and we end up feeling like test subjects on a hamster wheel. all attempts at individuality, at heterogeneity, at egregiousness — seem to be for utterly naught. and what I’ve got going right here? it’s a continuing, perpetual attempt at defining myself, finding my own faults and in the process highlighting them so that I will eventually learn from them and improve on them (with a bit of luck). a cyclical thing, yes, true, but one of utmost importance in my life, a process improving and defining myself further with every word and thought. apotheosis through thoughts impressed as words. these words are ἀθάνατα, deathless; like Thucydides and his noble motives, I am not writing simply for the needs of the immediate public, but also for ages to come. would that I be so lucky to live on through the aeons due to these annals… we shall see. the temple of the Muses

Ξ Thursday, 02 Feb 2006 at 05:06 | → 2 Comments | ∇ Normal |

I didn’t know the Muses had a temple… well, I figured they probably would, but I’ve not heard of one, save their haunts on Mt. Helikon really. Cf. Chuck Palahniuk, Diary for more details (Google Books may be of use; actually, looking at it just now, there’s no results. Check Amazon for excerpts). in any case, it’s been a good couple days. nice and relaxing, restful and such, but strange at the same time, as things are wont to be. settling back into life down here, of course, and it’s a wonderful place to get back to. being back here makes me smile, and everything has been fucking awesome thus far. I’m still loving the MWF classes, since Monday and Wednesday are like motherfucking Fridays! mystically mysterious. so… (more…)

  • about me

These days my entries have been more fractured and less focused. Such is life. I do what I can to give a glimpse into my life, a snapshot if possible. I hope you enjoy it nonetheless.

talk to me if you'd like to know something about me, or keep reading. I'm still a poor grad student and working on my PhD. I don't really know whether this will become a book anymore, but it's not wholly improbable.

feel free to drop me comments on here, or even an email at:
